Funicular named after A. V. Ivanoff. Sloping railway connects
the high part of the city and Podol. It was built according
to the project of the engineers N. K. Pyatnitsky and N. I. Baryshnikoff
in 1902-1905. The idea of the creation of the funicular belonged
to the engineer A. A. Abragamson. It was inaugurated ion the
7th of May 1905. Originally it was named Michailovsky mechanical
lift and connected the upper terrace of Vladimirskaya hill and
Borichev Tok Street. The railway was 200 meters long. In 1928
the funicular railway was reconstructed and its way was added
38 meters more tending to present Petro Sagaydachny Street.
In 1958 new equipment was set in the mechanical hall on the
upper station. A journey of the carriage takes 2,5-3 minutes.
In 1986 the reconstruction of the funicular railway was completed
(the architects Y. Y. Vig, V. I. Ejoff, A. S. Chupak, the engineers
V. A. Reznikoff, N. P. Nayko).
